Week of June 13-17 & Swim Meet #3
Here’s a highlight of this week’s swim team happenings:
Monday, June 13th:
Normal morning and afternoon practice sessions. Spirit Night after the afternoon practice session. Come paint your nails and get some thunderbolt tattoos in preparation for Tuesday’s meet.
Tuesday, June 14th:
Normal morning practice sessions at 8:30, 9:15, 10, and 10:30.
Meet #3 at Leslie Beach Club:
Swimmers arrive between 4:15-4:30 pm
LBC warm ups: 5:00-5:30 pm
Our warm ups: 5:30-6:00 pm
Meet starts at 6:00 pm
4:30 arrival means in the bullpen at 4:30 not parking the car. It is VERY important that swimmers are there and ready. They have limited time for warmups and for coaches to make changes. If you are not there, lineup changes will need to be made. If an emergency arises and you will not be there by 4:30, please call or text Julie Linsley at 706-206-3106.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Thank you to ALL the parents who have already volunteered. We still need a few roles filled. Please note that we need volunteers for every meet and most parents will need to volunteer more than once. We cannot run meets without parent volunteers. We still need the following:
Bullpen Coordinator - 2nd shift (1)
6&Under Boys Bullpen (1)
10&Under Boys Bullpen (1)
12&Under Boys Bullpen (1)
12&Under Girls Bullpen (2)
Finish Judge - 2nd shift (1)
Ribbons (1)
Please visit our team site and sign up to help.
PARKING: The address for Leslie Beach Club is 2539 Leslie Drive Northeast, Atlanta, GA 30345. They are reserving the parking lot for our team, but the number of spots is limited. Street parking is on ONE side of the street on the surrounding neighborhood roads, so emergency vehicles can pass if necessary. Additionally, anyone who parks on the street should leave plenty of space in front of mailboxes as USPS typically delivers very late in their neighborhood and they don’t want any neighbors missing their mail delivery because a car was parked in the way.
CHECK-IN: Swimmer should check in with Karisa Gilmer when they arrive. Volunteers should check in with Tracy Bogoevska upon arrival. If you are running late or an emergency comes up that will keep you from getting there on time, please call or text Julie Linsley at 706-206-3106.
SEATING & BULLPENS: There is not a lot of deck space at Leslie Beach Club. They recommend spectators bring a folding chair and can sit wherever they can find a space (no designation for home/visitor seating). Our Twin Lakes bullpens will be under the pavilion (to the right when you first enter) and part of the playground. We will have our signs up to show where each age group should sit.
CONCESSIONS: Their snack bar will sell concessions. They plan to offer Chick-Fil-A sandwiches, along with general snacks and candy. They accept cash only.
REMINDERS FOR YOUR SWIMMERS:
- drink plenty of fluids (water, Gatorade, sports drinks) and to rest as much as possible during the day. This goes for ALL AGES of swimmers.
- It is going to be HOT on Tuesday, so make sure to pack some extra water for everyone coming.
- Let’s show our sportsmanship and bullpen etiquette tonight! We are so proud of our team!
- We will send out the heat sheet after the Tuesday morning practice sessions. Please plan to mark your swimmer’s arm with their events prior to meet arrival. Instructions will be included in the email with the heat sheet.
Wednesday, June 15th:
Come for donuts and pool games with the coaches from 9:30-10:15 am for 10 & younger and from 10:15-11:00 am for 11 & older. Wear your suits and come to have fun!
Regular afternoon practice will be held on Wednesday. You will also be able to pick up your ribbons from Tuesday’s meet in the ribbon file (located on the bench in front of the swim team senior bulletin board by the concession stand). Ribbons are filed by family last name and you can pick them up at any time from the file.
We will also be holding a Swim Team Council Meeting on Wednesday at 5:30 pm in the pavilion. If you are interested in getting more involved or taking on a coordinator role next year, this would be great to attend to get more information. If you are interested in getting involved and can’t attend, contact Julie Linsley and she can answer questions you may have. We will need some new parent volunteers, so come learn how you can help make next year’s swim team happen.
If you haven’t marked your availability for next week’s away meet on 6/21, or for the ASA Championship Meet on 6/29, please do so before Friday.
Thursday, June 16th:
Normal morning and afternoon practice sessions.
Friday, June 17th:
Did you mark your availability for meet #4 on 6/21 and ASA Championships on 6/29?
Saturday, June 18th:
Junior Bolts meet #3 is Saturday at 9:00 am.
We hope everyone has a great week! Go Bolts!
Thank you,
TLTB Swim Team Council
