ASA Information

Good morning Thunderbolts! Here is our latest information.

Once entries are in, the meet will be moved into Hy Tek to interface with the scoreboard and timing equipment at Georgia Tech. While the meet may appear in Meet Maestro DO NOT USE THAT FOR HEAT SHEETS, ENTRY LISTS OR OTHER MEET REPORTS IT WILL BE WRONG. Because of this the meet will not be listed in your Swimtopia Mobile Ap, it will however be posted in Hy Tek's Meet Mobile, which most people still have access to. We will e mail entry lists and heat sheets to teams several days before their session. YOU MUST USE THE VERSIONS OF THE MEET REPORTS (HEAT SHEETS AND ENTRY LISTS) FOR YOUR TEAM IF YOU DO NOT IT WILL BE CHAOS FOR YOUR TEAM

Location and Parking:

  • The GA Tech Aquatics Center is housed in the Campus Recreation Center which is located at 750 Ferst Drive, Atlanta, GA 30332 on the West side of the GA Tech campus.
  • Directions from the North: Travel South on I-75/85. Exit at North Avenue. Turn right on to Tech Parkway. Follow Tech Parkway to Regents Drive (2nd light) and turn right. Turn left at the stop sign onto Ferst Drive. The Campus Recreation Center will be on your left.
  • Parking: Pre-paid parking will be available in the W10 parking deck that is adjacent to the front entrance of the CRC. Parking in that deck will be via PREPAID PARKING ONLY, you cannot pay at arrival. To purchase parking please visit this link. Parking costs will be between $12-15. This is the deck attached to the building. For people who did not prepay for parking will have to use W23 lot located at 905 State St. That deck is a short walk to the building. A map of the area can be found at Georgia Tech General Parking Map and ASA Parking Diagram and Map.
  • Arrival
  • We will meet as a team on the lawn in front of the entrance at 7:45am. Swimmers need to check in with Julie Linsley when they arrive. We need to make sure we have everyone, as our team is required to enter together. Our entrance time is 8:10 am. You will not be allowed to enter the building if you are late unless a coach or council member escorts you in, so please call or text Ashley @ 615-428-6765 if you are running late. Our warm-up time is 8:40-8:55 am in the boys pool all lanes.
  • All swimmers, other than those driving themselves, must have a parent/designated adult on site that they can report to in case of emergency.
  • Leaving the meet: Please make sure Julie Linsley knows that you are leaving with your child. Many families like to meet up for a late lunch after the meet, so keep that option in mind as you plan your day. The final event for 6 & Under swimmers is backstroke. After that event, parents of this age group need to check in with the bullpen parent and pick up their child. You are welcome to watch the remainder of the meet in the spectator stands.

What to bring:

  • Swimmers need to bring 1-2 towels, some snacks/light lunch and water bottle/drinks to get them through the meet, a cover-up or dry clothes in some sort of bag. Remember to label all belongings with your name.
  • Only lunch-box-size coolers that can fit under your seat are allowed. There is no room for large coolers.

Concessions & other vendors:

  • There is a smaller concession stand in the facility. However, we do not know the types and amount of food that will be available. Bring snacks in a small cooler (only small soft-sided coolers/lunch boxes are allowed). Remember you are in a stadium, so space is limited. For swimmers, pack them a few snacks and a water bottle to keep in their seating section.

Pool Seating Information:

  • Swimmers, coaches and volunteers will sit in our assigned section - On Deck, Sec. J & K. When swimmers are not swimming, they are expected to be in the assigned seating section with their bullpen volunteers.
  • Spectators are welcome at this year’s meet, and admission is free. Spectators must remain in the spectator gallery in designated spectator seating areas. Spectators/parents are not allowed on the pool deck, unless they have a credential as a meet volunteer or designated team official.
  • The girls and boys swim in separate pools. The boys pool is closest to the big scoreboard. The girls pool is in between the boys pool and the diving well. The lanes are numbered 0-9 with lane 0 being closest to the windows and lane 9 closest to the stands.

Psych Sheet:

Order of Events:

  • The order of events is VERY different from what we are used to. We’d strongly recommend printing a copy of this ASA Divisional Order of Events for your use at the meet.Notice there are 2 separate lists because the girls meet and boys meet occur in different pools. Events will keep their same event numbers, but will not occur in that order. 6 & Unders and Relays are all at the beginning of the meet.
  • PLEASE NOTE – 6 & Unders can plan to leave the Twin Lakes swimmer seating area with their parent/designated adult after the swimming of the 6 & Under backstroke.

Volunteer Needs:

  • ASA requires each team to fill volunteer spots. We need the following volunteers:
    • Timers for girls pool (2-for the entire session)
    • Timers for boys pool (2-for the entire session)
    • Awards aka ribbons (1-for the entire session)
  • We will contact all our volunteers with more information about your job.
  • We MUST fill all these positions, so please volunteer to help out for part of the time. Sign up on our team site - https://tltb.swimtopia.com/swim_meets

General Helpful Hints:

  • If any circumstance arises that will cause you to not be on time – please call or text Ashley (615) 428-6765 IMMEDIATELY.
  • Parents be aware that this meet will move quickly. Keep in mind that there is a girls pool and a boys pool, so the girls/boys events will run back to back, without the delay of the opposite gender. Spectators and bullpen parents will really need to pay attention.
  • Relays don’t run through the official ASA bullpen, they go straight to the blocks. Parent volunteers will need to take each set of swimmers to the correct end of the pool for relays.
  • If you want a heat sheet, you need to print it and bring it. They will NOT have any for sale at the meet (as they have in years past). If you use the SwimTopia app, it does not synch exactly with the Georgia Tech equipment, so it may not have accurate information at this meet. Please use the emailed heat sheet and posted paper results in the hallway for the most accurate information.
  • Official results will be posted in the hallway at the meet. All parents need to check their swimmer’s results. If something seems wrong, contact Catherine or another coach immediately. Check the paper results in the hallway before you consult Catherine, though.
  • Any attached links not operating properly and all additional information can be found on the ASA Championships page: https://asa.swimtopia.com/championship

GO Thunderbolts!
